  RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A Richland County high school teacher has been arrested after a gun was found inside his bag while on campus, said deputies. On Friday, December 20, around 9 a.m., SROs at Westwood High School were notified by district security that a teacher identified as Dedric Owens attempted to pass through the metal detectors with a firearm in his bag, said Richland County Sheriff’s Department. SROs who responded to the incident and secured him, found a gun in Owens bag which they said was unloaded and belonged to him. Owens is charged with weapons on school grounds and will be taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
