FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A man has been arrested in Fresno County after driving a stolen truck and tying up traffic on Clovis Avenue, the Fresno County Sheriff's Office said. Deputies say OnStar notified Fowler Police Friday afternoon after it had tracked a stolen Chevy pickup truck to the area of Adams and Temperance avenues in Fowler. According to the sheriff's office, a deputy spotted the truck in the area and attempted to make a traffic stop, but the suspect failed to stop, ran stop signs and reached speeds of up to 90 mph. The deputy then canceled the pursuit of the truck and requested air support search for it. Deputies say their EAGLE One helicopter responded and found the vehicle driving towards Fresno. Deputies began to follow the vehicle and OnStar, using a technology feature, disabled the truck's engine and caused it to slow down to around 5 mph. Detectives report this action prompted the suspect, 28-year-old Dannie Rollins of Fresno, to exit Highway 180 at Clovis Avenue and make an illegal turn that tied up traffic. The sheriff's office reports they use their vehicles to block the truck from going any further. Rollins tried to reverse the truck, but he was ultimately removed by California Highway Patrol officers and deputies. Deputies add he initially resisted arrest but was ultimately detained. According to sheriff's officials, Rollins was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail under suspicion of evading police, auto theft and resisting arrest. They add he is currently under Post-Release Community Supervision.
