Men’s hockey: No. 1 Gophers and No. 2 Spartans skate to 33 tie

Brodie Ziemer scored twice, including the tying goal with 9:54 remaining in regulation as top-ranked Minnesota rallied for a 3-3 tie against second-ranked Michigan State on Friday at 3M Arena at Mariucci.
The teams skated two scoreless overtimes.
Brody Lamb added a goal on a game-high nine shots on goal and blocked four shots for Minnesota, which will conclude the two-game set against the Spartans on Saturday at 5 p.m.
Playing without forward Nick Michael, who was ejected for contact to the head, the Gophers (15-2-2) trailed 3-2 after Karsen Dorwart’s goal with 4:09 left in the second period.
Tiernan Shouday and Tanner Kelly also scored for the Spartans (12-2-1).
Nathan Airey stopped 26 of 29 shots for the Gophers.
