INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana football's Kurtis Rourke finished ninth in this year's race for the Heisman Trophy.
On Friday night, the Heisman Trophy Trust released a list that revealed which players finished outside the top four in voting for college football's preeminent player of the year award. Below is the list of players who finished 5th-10th in the voting:
5. Cam Skattebo — running back, Arizona State
6. Bryson Daily — quarterback, Army
7. Tyler Warren — tight end, Penn State
8. Shedeur Sanders — quarterback, Colorado
9. Kurtis Rourke — quarterback, Indiana
10. Kyle McCord — quarterback, Syracuse
The top four vote-getters in this year's Heisman Trophy race have also been revealed, though not in any particular order:
Dillon Gabriel — quarterback, Oregon
Travis Hunter — wide receiver/defensive back, Colorado
Ashton Jeanty — running back, Boise States
Cam Ward — quarterback, Miami
The winner of the 2024 Heisman Trophy will be announced on Saturday at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
Rourke — who played at Ohio University before transferring to IU ahead of the 2024 season —has thrown for 2,827 yards and 27 touchdowns this year. In 11 games played, Rourke has posted a 70.4 completion percentage, connecting on 202 of the 287 passes he's tossed.
Of his 85 incompletions this year, only four have been interceptions. According to ESPN Rourke's quarterback rating is 85.7, which is third-best in the country.
Rourke may have finished higher in the voting for the Heisman Trophy had he not been sidelined for a game with a thumb injury.
Rourke's efforts have also helped fuel the Hoosiers' run to the College Football Playoff. Before Rourke and first-year head coach Curt Cignetti arrived in Bloomington this year, Indiana had not posted a winning record since the 2020 season.
Indiana will play 11-1 Notre Dame in the first round of the College Football Playoff on Dec. 20 at 8 p.m. The Hoosiers will have to travel to Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend for the game.
