Kevin Osgood, the Public Affairs Officer of the USCG Auxiliary of Northeast Wisconsin said that the event was focused on choosing next year's leadership for USCG Auxiliary Division 47.
"This is also a tremendous opportunity to recognize people and organizations in the community that have done a lot to help spread the word about recreational boating safety," Osgood said.
Osgood said that Local 5 was worthy of its award because of how the station stepped up to show Public Service Announcements (PSAs) over a year ago that aided in the USCG Auxiliary's mission of boating safety.

"WFRV stepped up more than a year ago and offered to help put together some PSAs that helped explain what the Coast Guard Auxiliary is," Osgood said. "In turn, it helps us create a safer boating environment in northeast Wisconsin."
