(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A victim was allegedly held captive for three days while being viciously beaten and sexually assaulted before managing to shoot her captor and call police, according to court documents.
An arrest affidavit for 26-year-old Hannah Viramontes states that the incident began on Nov. 30 at a home near Twain Elementary, when Viramontes, a transgender woman, was cited for shoplifting at the Citadel Mall. The unidentified female victim in the case, Viramontes' roommate and former partner, inquired about the ticket, though she noted that Viramontes appeared to be showing signs of "a mental health episode."

After asking Viramontes about the ticket, Viramontes allegedly punched the victim at full force in the face, knocking her to the ground. The documents state that Viramontes was aware the victim kept a concealed handgun in her waistband, and managed to get the gun away from the victim. Viramontes pointed the gun at the victim and threatened to shoot her if she did not follow orders to put her hands behind her back.
Viramontes then allegedly handcuffed the victim's hands behind her back, and proceeded to punch and kick her, as well as cut her with a pocketknife.
According to the affidavit, the victim was taken to a bedroom and sexually assaulted, before Viramontes handcuffed the victim to her own wrist and went to sleep. The next day, on Sunday, Viramontes allegedly told the victim she would keep her as a "sex slave" and that she would kill the victim if she tried to scream or escape.
On Monday, Dec. 2, reportedly the third day of captivity, Viramontes once again beat the victim and strangled her, before shoving objects into the victim's mouth and down her throat. When the victim was able to cough the objects out of her mouth, Viramontes allegedly ripped a towel bar off the wall and beat the victim all over her body with it.
The documents state that Viramontes eventually left the handgun on a coffee table and went to take something outside, and the victim noticed her handcuffs had become loose. The victim managed to slip out of one of the handcuffs, grabbed the gun, and ran to lock a sliding glass door to trap Viramontes outside the house. When Viramontes noticed, she reportedly tried to kick the sliding glass door in, at which point the victim shot at Viramontes.
Viramontes did not initially fall down, so the victim fired the gun again. Viramontes ran away from the house, and the victim called 911 on Viramontes' cell phone. Once police arrived, the victim informed officers she believed Viramontes had recorded several instances of the assaults on the cell phone, and that the house had security footage she could provide.
According to officers who responded, the victim suffered "severe" bruising to her face, bruising all over her body as well as cuts, punctures, and bite marks. A doctor who examined the victim at the hospital said she presented with serious bodily injury and "had a substantial risk of serious permanent disfigurement."
Viramontes was taken to the hospital and later arrested. She is facing charges of sexual assault, kidnapping, assault, false imprisonment, and menacing. She is due in El Paso County Court Dec. 19.
