CHARLOTTE, NC — Police say an 11-year-old boy was hit and killed by a vehicle early Friday morning.
Just before 7:30 a.m., officers were called to Gum Branch Road for an accident involving a pedestrian. Once at the scene, police say they found Hendrix Truesdale, lying on the side of the road. A 2016 Nissan Frontier was stopped a short distance from where the victim was found. Medic transported the child to Atrium where he unfortunately died.
Police say Hendrix Truesdale was crossing Gum Branch Road outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by the truck. Police say impairment and speed are not contributing factors in the accident.
WCCB has learned that Hendrix Truesdale was in the sixth grade at Coulwood STEM Academy.
This is a developing story.
