MCAS Miramar to welcome home pilots who attacked Houthi weapons depots in Yemen

A squadron of fighter pilots who attacked Houthi weapons depots in Yemen will return Saturday to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar after a five-month deployment to the Middle East and Indo-Pacific aboard the San Diego-based aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln.
The attacks carried out by Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 314 — the Black Knights — represent the first combat use of F-35C Lightning II jets, which are regarded as one of the stealthiest military aircraft in the world.
The Black Knights targeted depots that “housed conventional weapons, including anti-ship missiles and one-way attack drones, used by the Iranian-backed Houthis to target U.S. military and civilian vessels navigating international waters in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden,” MCAS Miramar said in a statement.
The Lincoln carrier strike group also was helping to protect Israel from possible attacks by Iran and its collaborators. The ship is now on its way back to San Diego.
