(KRON) –  An Oakland tiki bar announced its closure after seven years of business with a fiery message for everyone on Friday.  The Kon-Tiki, located in Downtown Oakland, said operating in Oakland and any major downtown metropolitan area is an “unforgiving job.”  “It has been an awful, unforgiving job running this place in this town,” according to the post. “The sh-t piles on without respite or relief. Every day running a small business in Oakland (or probably in any depressed major metropolitan downtown) is a living nightmare.” According to the post, the bar has faced adversity spanning the last 18 months.  San Francisco deli voted best in state: report  Kon-Tiki cited “break-ins,” “police indifference” and “ bureaucratic ineptitude greed inaction” as obstacles the bar has faced. The post also insinuates the business’ finances have been impacted by industry “fees” and “services.” The post gave the ultimate reason for closure, the bar being “super f–king slow.” The contentious statements weren’t exclusive to the city of Oakland, also citing rude guests. The establishment asks future patrons to be understanding and patient with the staff.  The Instagram post does not have an exact date of closure, but it informs customers that they can enjoy the bar for another two weeks.  KRON4.com has reached out to The Kon-Tiki and is awaiting a response.
