GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Officers are investigating a hunting accident that occurred in Georgetown County Thursday, where a stray pellet injured an individual.
South Carolina Department of Natural Resources agents responded to the incident in the Yuahannah area, department spokesperson Greg Lucas said.
Once they arrived, agents learned two deer hunters were out hunting with dogs when one of them fired in the direction of the other individual.
As a result, the victim was hit by a single buckshot pellet. That person was taken to a nearby hospital, where they were treated for the injury.
The victim has since been released. SCDNR did not say whether charges have been filed.
