Animal advocates on pit bull misconceptions

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Lollypop Farm Humane Society of Greater Rochester said Thursday that pit bulls and larger dogs in general, are harder to get adopted.
Lollypop has so many pit bulls and dogs up for adoption, and advocates said you shouldn't believe common misconceptions of the breed.
Erin Sandle with Lollypop said, "Any dogs can bite, that's why it's important for people to know their dogs body language so they can tell what their dog is trying to say," she adds, "You can look at different things like the ears, eyes, and their tail and their dogs will tell them when they are uncomfortable and it's very important for people to recognize that to prevent any bites."
Sandle also said it's important to remember all dogs are individuals and have individual needs. So regardless of their breed they need to be treated as the individuals they are.
Lollypop Farm offers a Dogs 101 class, free of charge for anybody to learn and use.
