Officers arrived to find 31-year-old Markazsa Perry with a single gunshot wound. Perry was transported to Community Regional Medical Center where she later died.
Investigators say Perry was in the backyard of the home with other people when three suspects arrived. The suspects fired around 40 shots from around 40 yards away in the general direction of Perry and the other people using multiple firearms.

The suspects were described by police as black male adults. They left the area on foot and possibly left in a vehicle, according to police.
Fresno Police Lieutenant Paul Cervantes says the number of rounds fired highlights how serious the incident was.
“We do have some belief that there is some type of connection or possibly some gang connection, and because of that, we're coordinating with our multi-agency gang enforcement consortium to further that angle,” Cervantes said.
“It's only, by the grace of God that we don't have more people that were actually struck by gunfire. When we're talking about more than 40 rounds being fired.”
It is unknown if Perry was the intended target.
