Man pleads guilty to aggravated battery in shooting on Fort Wayne's south side

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - An attempted murder charge could be off the table for the suspect in a January shooting that caused a man's leg to "fold in half."
Court records show Roddrick Gale pleaded guilty Thursday to aggravated battery, a Level 3 felony charge. In Indiana, that would call for a prison term of between three and 16 years.
Gale was charged in a shooting that injured a man on Jan. 12 in the 3200 block of Clinton Court, not far from South Side High School. According to Allen Superior Court documents, an argument preceded the shooting.
Police wrote in court documents the victim's “leg folded in half and there was bone protruding from the skin.”
Gale was on the run for several days before police caught him.
If the judge at Gale's sentencing accepts the plea deal, an attempted murder charge would be dismissed for the 38-year-old.
Gale's sentencing has not yet been scheduled.
