COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Deputies say multiple fire vehicles and a sheriff's office cruiser were hit Thursday morning as they were responding to a crash in Comstock Township. The original crash happened on eastbound I-94 near the 80.5 mile marker, east of Sprinkle Road, according to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office. No one was hurt in this crash. Hazardous driving conditions for Thursday morning commute While first responders were on scene around 8:30 a.m., deputies say a 24-foot box truck lost control. Dashboard camera video released by the sheriff's office shows the semi-truck hitting the cruiser, smashing into a fire truck and rolling over. First responders can be seen running away from the fire truck in the moments following the crash. Three Comstock fire vehicles and the cruiser were hit, according to deputies. They say no first responders were hurt, but the driver of the box truck was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. GRPS, school districts close amid snowfall, low temperatures in West Michigan Eastbound I-94 was closed for hours at Sprinkle Road, but it reopened around 10:50 a.m. Thursday, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation. "KCSO would like to remind everyone to slow down during inclement weather, and move over for emergency vehicles," deputies wrote in a release.
