Another week, another massive game for the Vikings that they are not playing in. Last week it was the Thursday Night Football matchup between the Packers and the Lions, and this week, it’s those same hated Lions again. However, it’s also my beloved Buffalo Bills, and the fact I get to welcome all you Vikings fans into Bills Mafia for the week makes my heart soar. If you’re a Vikings fan and just came out from under your rock, the Vikings are in a deadlocked sprint for the one-seed with the Lions and only four games remaining. The Vikings sit one game back of the Lions with a regular season finish between the two, so between then and now, Vikings fans are the biggest fans of anyone playing Detroit. The Bills are in their own respective race for the one-seed with the Kansas City Chiefs, trailing them by two games. So this game is equally as important to Buffalo as it is to Minnesota. If the Bills can beat Detroit on Sunday afternoon, the Vikings will have an opportunity to tie things up record-wise on Monday Night Football versus a disastrous 4-9 Chicago Bears team. The Lions currently hold the head-to-head over Minnesota after their 31-29 win over them back in October, but as I mentioned, these two close out the regular season with each other in what could be a winner-take-all for the division should the Vikings win the next three games against Chicago, Seattle and Green bay and, of course, if the Bills beat the Lions. Why is this Bills versus Lions game so important for Minnesota? Well, the Lions following two games after Buffalo are against San Francisco and Chicago, two teams playing very poor football that will be big underdogs against Detroit. It is reasonable to believe that the Lions will win both of those games, meaning, for the Vikings to have any chance at the one-seed, a Bills win over Detroit Sunday is a must. With Alabama being knocked out of the CFB Playoff, I have hopped on the SDSU and USD bandwagon, so it’s only right I invite you onto the Bills bandwagon and into Bills Mafia for the weekend.
