MADERA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Madera County honored a World War II veteran residing in the City of Madera for his 100th birthday. County officials say World War II veteran and Madera resident, Leeroy Tucker, was recognized Frida on his 100th birthday. Tucker was honored with a certificate of recognition for what officials call a "historic milestone." Tucker served with the 332nd Field Artillery Battalion, eight Infantry Division during World War II. After serving in Europe, officials say Tucker was deployed to the Pacific in the first invasion of Japan. According to Tucker, the secret to reaching 100 years of age is to simply "stay out of trouble." Tucker was honored in the companionship of Madera County supervisors and 100 friends and family members.
