WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Four residents were displaced after a house fire in West Warwick this morning.
According to Fire Chief Jeffrey Varone, officials were called to a reported chimney fire a 11:07 p.m.
Upon arrival, companies found heavy fire venting out of several windows.
Varone said there is extensive damage to the first and second floors of the house.
Warwick, Cranston, Coventry and East Greenwich were called in for mutual coverage as West Warwick firefighters battled the fire.
Varone said the State Fire Marshal’s Office was called to assist in the investigation.
The fire was under control in just under one hour, and the residents of the home were able to make it out safely.
The residents are currently being assisted by The American Red Cross.
