What to do in the East Bay this holiday season

NEWPORT, R.I. (WPRI) — Many people think of Rhode Island's East Bay as a place to visit in the warm summer months, but there is plenty to do in the winter as well.

Holiday shop and stroll (featuring farm animals)
The West Place Animal Sanctuary in Tiverton is holding its final public visitors weekend of the year on Nov. 29 and Nov. 30. Guests can go on guided tours, check out the gift shop and interact with the farm's animals including goats, horses, alpacas and ducks. You can buy discounted tickets for the event here.
Newport Illuminated Boat Parade
The iconic boat parade will get underway from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Nov. 29. You can watch from any area with a view of Newport Harbor.
Nutcracker at Rosecliff
This unique ballet performance has guests follow the dances from room to room of the Rosecliff Mansion as the story unfolds in the first act. Tickets start at $145.
Sparkling Lights at the Breakers
The Gilded Age mansion is in the holiday spirit, decorated with thousands of holiday lights. If you'd like to tour the Breakers, you can buy tickets here.
Warren Holiday Festival
The 36th annual Warren Holiday Festival will kick off on Nov. 29 and run until Nov. 30. If you happen to be on Baker Street at 5 p.m., you may catch a glimpse of Santa on a fire truck. You can check out the full list of festival events here.
