Black Friday shopping begins: What should you buy?
Nov 29, 2024
HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - It's one of the most highly anticipated days for shopping, Black Friday.
Will mail and packages be delivered on Thanksgiving, Black Friday?
Even with Black Friday not being what it traditionally was like in the past with lines outside of stores since many sales are now online and span for a few days or more than a week, it is still considered the busiest day of in-person retail shopping.
Consumer savings experts have a few recommendations for what you should and shouldn't buy on Black Friday. They say it's a great time to shop for fall clothing, TVs, and personal consumer electronics, like phones, but there are some things you should hold off on as they say there could be better deals coming up.
They suggest staying away from beauty items and footwear as Cyber Monday typically has better prices. If you are planning a trip, wait for "Travel Tuesday" for deals on flights, cruises, tours, and hotels, they say toys and holiday decor are generally cheaper closer to the middle to end of December.
Also, stay away from exercise equipment, linens, and bedding as they tend to be marked down more in January's "White Sales"
Lastly, furniture and mattresses often have better deals over holiday weekends such as Presidents Day and Memorial Day.
