Five students enrolled in South Dakota’s Jobs for America’s Graduates program—two of which attend Lyman High School in Presho– have been selected to represent their peers at the organization’s National Student Leadership Academy.
The two students from Lyman High School attending the gathering next week (Dec. 5-7, 2024) in Washington, D.C.., are Marlee Wells and Adlynn Moran.
The JAG National Student Leadership Academy is for state officers and select chapter officers. Some of the scheduled activities for the attendees are leadership training, visiting with members of Congress and participating in a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.
The other three students representing South Dakota are:
Duane Reddest, Bennett County High School, Martin;
April Hollingsworth, Wagner High School, Wagner; and
Charles Kocer, Wagner High School, Wagner.
JAG is a leadership development and career exploration program for middle and high school students. The program aims to increase graduation rates among at-risk students, prepare them for success in the career of their choice and help them be leaders in their communities as adults. More than 470 South Dakota students participate in the program.
