ROCKVILLE, Md. (DC News Now) -- Not sure where to trash your Thanksgiving food scraps? The City of Rockville has you covered with its compost sites. Rockville offers residents food scrap drop-off sites, making composting easy and accessible. This helps keep materials out of landfills and reduces excessive greenhouse gas emissions. The sites are free and open 24/7. How to use the drop-off sites: Place food scraps in a container (such as empty coffee containers with sealing lids). Be sure to take out any plastic or trash. Empty your container into the designated bins at one of the Food Scraps Drop-Off sites in Rockville. Rinse your container and repeat. Black Friday to reach record sales this year  Food scraps you can compost include leftover stuffing, mashed potatoes, pie - essentially any Thanksgiving staples you might have. Plastic, non-compostable plastic bags, oyster or clam shells, grease, fats and oils, however, are not compostable. For a full list of food scraps you can and cannot drop off, click here. Food scraps are picked up weekly and delivered to the Prince George's County Organic Compost Facility, according to the city. Drop-off sites can be found at: Maintenance Facility: 14625 Rothgeb Drive | Rockville instructs drivers to take a slight right into the Maintenance Facility and make the first left into the upper parking lot. The drop-off is located toward the end of the parking lot on the right. Rockville Senior Center: 1150 Carnation Drive | Rockville instructs drivers to follow signs to the back parking lot. The drop-off is in the back left corner of the lot. Twinbrook Community Recreation Center: 12920 Twinbrook Parkway | The drop-off is in the first space in the upper parking lot across from the tennis courts and playground.
