MADERA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A woman has been arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence after allegedly crashing into an apartment on Thursday afternoon, the Madera Police Department said. Officers responded to the area of Conrad Street and Georgia Avenue in Madera regarding a report of a traffic collision involving a vehicle in an apartment on Thursday at around 1:10 p.m. Upon arrival, police say they located the driver, identified as 38-year-old Cristine Irish, who backed her vehicle across the street and into the kitchen of a nearby apartment. Officers say the driver was found to display obvious signs of intoxication and a DUI investigation was conducted, which determined that Irish was driving under the influence more than twice the legal limit. Investigators say she was ultimately arrested and booked into the Madera County Jail under suspicion of DUI. No injuries were reported as a result of the collision, and officials were contacted to determine the structural integrity of the apartment due to the damaged caused by the collision. Other resources were made available to the residents of the apartment.
