SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) -- Families all across KELOLAND sat down at the dinner table Thursday to share a Thanksgiving meal and express their gratitude for all the blessings in their lives. We visited a longtime Sioux Falls restaurant to find out what the dinner crowd is thankful for. Some of their answers might surprise you! The Mork family from Sioux Falls sat down to a Thanksgiving dinner at Marlin's Family Restaurant. "Most people do this at home. We've been doing this for the last couple of years, because you want to get together with people you care about. That's what it's all about," Jason Mork said. The Morks, like other customers in the restaurant, said they're most grateful for family and friends. But that gratitude extends well beyond the family circle. Lincoln band performs in Macy’s parade "I'm thankful for difficult people. They challenge me to become a better person myself. That's something I think is different and unique," Dawson Mork said. PERRY: When you talk about difficult people, are you referring to anyone at this table? "No, nobody at this table, no," Dawson said. Family harmony is always important during the holidays. "And the food is really good. I just didn't feel like cooking you know," Cindy Onerheim said. Cindy Onerheim is thankful for a tasty Thanksgiving meal and her new career with the Brandon Valley School District. "I'm a sub van driver right now, an SUV driver of kids in the school district that don't ride the bus. And I'm about to test for my CDL on Tuesday, so I'm going to be a bus driver! A 42-foot yellow bus," Onerheim said. Mark Besson of New Orleans drives a semi-truck for a living. He's stranded in Sioux Falls for Thanksgiving. "Any time you got a holiday that falls in, it affects the shippers and they tend not to ship that much. So that's how I got stuck. I got a load going out tomorrow, though," Besson said. Besson, who's been a trucker for forty years, says spending holidays alone on the road comes with his profession. "You don't get to be with family. I may not get down to the house for Christmas, either," Besson said. Besson then became emotional when he said he's most thankful for his faith. "I'm thankful that… when the time comes when my time comes, I know where I'll be going," Besson said. Thanksgiving dinner. Sometimes sprinkled with tears. Other times, seasoned with holiday cheer. But always served with hearty portions of gratitude. "We have lots of little things every day to be grateful for," Jason Mork said. Besson's trucking route will take him to California, where he plans to spend Christmas with relatives there.
