The race for cranberries, green beans and holiday cheer

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — It's a race against the clock as Thanksgiving shoppers made their final runs Thursday morning to make sure their dinner tables were set.
"As I was getting ready to go to our family dinner, I realized I forgot the gel cranberries. And so, I had to swing in and get a can of it," Malenda Hoelscher said.
Malenda Hoelscher's not the only one who made the quick trip to Sunshine Foods in downtown Sioux Falls that morning.
"I need to bring green beans. You've got to get green beans. You know, you've got to make green bean casserole," Lori Eckrich said.
"We got a meat and cheese tray and just needed the cheese," John Forsberg said. " We forgot it. Something we should have got when we were out last."
Workers don't seem to mind the extra holiday hustle and helping customers find some of those last-minute items.

"I'm mainly front end, like getting people checked out, if they have questions, finding things or where things may be, just directing people, just helping people out," Sunshine Foods worker John Yarman said.
For plenty of people, finding a grocery store open on a holiday is a relief.
"They help them get the last-minute items they forgot, or they might be shopping for the weekend," Forsberg said. "There's a lot of good sales on food, so they're probably stocking up for the week and with all the visitors."
The aisles may have been packed, but doors were wide open.
"We're just grateful for all these people to be here to just provide an option for people to come and get whatever they need, a last minute thing or whatever it may be," Yarman said.
