VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Seton Youth Services has been in the Hampton Roads community for decades, and this holiday season they are asking for donations and volunteers to keep Seton around for many years to come. "If anyone is doing their shopping this weekend and I have a strong feeling people will be out the day after Thanksgiving, maybe just a couple extra small things that might help us would be greatly, greatly appreciated," Seton Youth Services CEO Jennifer Sieracki said. Since the 1980s Seton Youth Services has been saving lives and building futures. Each year, hundreds of boys and girls arrive at Seton's two Virginia Beach shelters. Often they are in the middle of a crisis. Sieracki said Seton welcomes them with food, shelter and support. "The issues that can cause a youth to be homeless, run away, trafficked, or at risk and because the community believes in us we are able to continue our mission to this day," Sieracki said. More than 5,000 youth benefitted from their services last year alone. Couple that with a new campus under construction, now is a great time to remind the community that donations are always appreciated. "We are like everyone's household times 10, we're always in need of household cleaning products, paper products, paper towels bathroom tissue, napkins all the things that we need to run our households," Sieracki said. With Black Friday and Cyber Monday on the horizon, she hopes many will keep Seton in the back of their mind as they shop. "It's great during the holiday season when folks will give us gift cards to grocery stores or other retailers so if one of the youth we're working for has a need we can take them to a store and get them exactly what they need," Sieracki said.
