BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) - A community was left in shock after a shooting outside of Lofton's Barbershop in Scotlandville that left one child dead and two in serious condition on Wednesday.
Community members are saddened by the loss of the child. Barbershop Owner of Kutt'n Korners Lonterio Ruffin is right by the barbershop where the shooting happened.
He said the need for gun violence needs to be stopped.
"For a child to lose their life this early, you know, behind somebody else senseless, whatever the case may be. Yeah. We have the change this out here," he said.
The children were struck by gunfire while inside a car with their pregnant mother and a GoFundMe page, set up by the mother Courtlyn Daniels, who has given birth following the shooting of his son, has received over $15,000.
Ruffin said he's had his barbershop business in the area for more than a decade and has never seen anything like this happen at his or other barbershops.
"Whatever happened, whatever caused it, it didn't come from the barbershop. It comes from the streets," he said.

He emphasized the disbelief of all this happening ahead of the holidays.
"It's like no words, you know, it's like no words..," he said. "It's Thanksgiving, you know? you're supposed to be getting ready to eat a turkey. Not my child, I got to bury my child now, you know?"
Now after the aftermath, Ruffin hopes this enforces the need for improvement and the need to unite as a community to reduce crime.
"I just hope, you know, everybody just come together and we could come as one and stop this foolishness, it starts at the house," he said. "Just let them know, man. Stop, put it down. You know, I mean, give them a hug or something.."
