Bridge near Milford Lake to close for 5 months

GEARY COUNTY (KSNT) - Geary County has been awarded cash for a bridge construction project for more than half a million dollars in federal funds that will take five months to complete.
A bridge in Geary County will be closed for five months, while a federally-funded replacement project takes place. According to a news release from the Geary County Planning Department, the county has been awarded a bridge construction project. The bridge selected to be fixed is on Old Milford Road, almost one mile west of the U.S. 77/Old Milford Road intersection.

Starting Monday, Dec. 2, Old Milford Road will be closed to thru traffic. According to the news release, the road is not due to reopen to unrestricted traffic until early April, 2025.
The detour for northbound traffic on Old Milford Road will be north U.S. 77 to K-57 then west on K-57 to Old Milford Road. Southbound traffic on Old Milford Road follow the same detour in reverse: north on Old Milford road to K-57 then west on K-57 to U.S. 77. Detour traffic signs will be installed before construction starts.
The contract amount for the bridge replacement is $698,499.00 of federal funds. Bayer Construction Co. Inc. from Manhattan will be the contractor for the project.
