(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) arrested a man after finding him inside the impound lot at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
On Tuesday, Nov. 26, Homeless Outreach Team officers with CSPD were clearing the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center (CJC) when they found a man unescorted inside the impound lot and began watching him.
Officers were aware that several cars within the impound lot had been burglarized since Oct. 2024. While they watched, they observed the man enter an RV stored within the fenced lot, and remove items from the RV.
When officers tried to make contact, the man, later identified as 51-year-old Paul K.R. Williams, ran away toward the Greenway Trail, before officers arrested him. CSPD took him to the Criminal Justice Center, where he was booked in for several unrelated warrants.
Williams was also charged with new charges of first-degree criminal trespass, obstructing a peace officer, and second-degree criminal trespass. The 51-year-old was also found to have been previously arrested for breaking into the CSPD Impound Lot in March and August of 2024.
