(SPONSORED) — The FOX21 Storm Team Storm Squatch is once again partnering with Phil Long Ford in Motor City to see how Mav and Goose are giving back to the community. On Wednesday, Nov. 27, FOX21 Chief Meteorologist Matt Meister spoke with Mark Barton, General Manager/Partner at Phil Long Ford Motor City, and Dean Goble, Executive Director of the Special Forces Foundation, to learn more about this month's mission. "November is Veterans Month and we are going to give back over $100,000 to the veteran organizations in town," said Barton. "So, for every vehicle we sell in the Phil Long industry, we are donating money and we will raise $100,000—we won't miss this goal." As part of Veterans Month, Sergeant Major (Retired) Brian Seidl and his family are being spotlighted. According to the Special Forces Foundation (SFF), "In 2022, while serving as Company Sergeant Major of Delta Company, 2nd Battalion, Seidl developed a sudden aggressive form of inflammatory arthritis, [known as] spondylarthritis," which left him with widespread joint damage and forced him to retire in January 2024. >>DONATE: Click here to help the Seidl family Despite multiple therapies, according to SFF, the disease has rapidly deteriorated his joints and Seidl is now in need of multiple joint replacements. "The family has exhausted most of their savings trying to manage his symptoms and preserve his quality of life, but Brian’s condition continues to worsen," SFF wrote. "Currently, Brian, his wife, their four children, and two dogs live in an RV in Falcon," SFF wrote. "Without a handicap-accessible home, Brian and his family are left struggling to meet basic needs." According to SFF, Seidl's humility and resilience prevent him from asking for help, but the family needs immediate support to avoid further hardship. The foundation is now raising funds for a home and to support the Seidl family. "We are doing what we can, through a fundraiser standpoint, to raise them money to get them into a new home," said Goble. "Please donate to us... 100% of everything we get goes right back into the family." To donate, click the link above.
