FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - The fourth annual One Table Fresno event, hosted by the Fresno Mission will take place Saturday at the City Center campus.  The forecasted rain has moved the event indoors. "We set up this really long table, we serve steak dinners to everybody, provide a thousand turkeys, along with some meals, and as well as distribute about 4,500 coats," CEO of the Fresno Mission, Matthew Dildine, said. 1,000 turkeys to be distributed in this year’s Operation Gobble in Fresno In addition to the expected crowd of up to 4,000 people, the nonprofit is also expecting California’s Lt. Governor Eleni Kounalakis. "What I've told her team and her staff is, well, look, when you come to the City Center, you're going to see something that you have never seen anywhere else in California," Dildine said. Dildine said the vision for this event came after holding "fancy fundraisers with high-priced meals;" meals that those they serve couldn't afford. "We really want to flip the script and provide our best banquet, our best meal to the people who are outside, and so we create this meal, and it's not just for people who are on the street, it's for everybody," Dildine said.  Uniting Fresno's community, in hopes of making a bigger impact. "It brings people that own businesses next to people who don't have a job, it brings people who don't know where the next meal is coming from next to people who run food companies," he said. The meal starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, but there's no set end time. "We have never stopped One Table with people waiting in line, and so we always say it'll go until there's nobody in line," Dildine said. In addition to the One Table event, the Fresno Mission has opened its warming center at 263 G St. "One of the unique things about our warming center, unlike some of the other warming centers, is it doesn't close, so once it's cold, we don't open or close based upon the forecast for that day, once it is open, it is open now, so people don't have to guess, and that'll stay open really until February or March until those temperatures really do start rising," Dildine said.  The warming center opens every night at 8:30 p.m., with optional breakfast and dinner meals.
