CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Two people are without a home after a Friday evening house fire in Chesterfield County that left the structure a total loss. Shortly before 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, first responders were called to the 7500 block of Fawndale Drive for a reported house fire. Upon their arrival, firefighters found heavy fire coming from a garage, which had spread to the home. According to fire officials, as crews battled the flames, wind worsened fire conditions. This forced firefighters to evacuate the house temporarily. These conditions kept crews from marking the fire under control for some time. It was officially marked under control at 7:25 p.m., with no injuries reported to any residents or firefighters, according to authorities. Two people have been displaced and are being assisted by family. The home is considered a total loss, with photos showing that the roof experienced a collapse during the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
