Eight Central Kentucky teams remain in the high school football playoffs

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW)- Eight high school football teams from Central Kentucky are moving on to the semifinals of the playoffs.

Sayre and Franklin County advance
Great Crossing and Douglass earn semifinal spots
Recapping the Action
In 1A, Sayre is the only team still standing. The Spartans beat defending state champions Pikeville at home on Friday 21-6.
Somerset and Lexington Christian Academy moved on after wins as well in 2A.
The Briar Jumpers beat Prestonburg 23-6 and will face Owensboro Catholic away next week in the semifinals.
LCA continued its winning streak with 11 victories in a row after beating Mayfield away from home 47-7.
In 3A, Lexington Catholic set itself up with a battle with Christian Academy Louisville after besting Bell County 21-8.
Two teams advanced in 5A as well. Franklin County handled Bardstown 49-12 and Corbin was victorious over Ashland Blazer 42-7.
In 6A, Great Crossing beat Barren County 59-14 and will now have to travel to face Ryle for a chance to play at Kroger Field.
Frederick Douglass will also have to play away from home in the semifinals to Trinity after besting Madison Central at home 36-6.
The Semifinals are Set
The eight teams remaining from Central Kentucky now know their opponents and locations for next week’s semifinals. All kickoff times are at 7 p.m.
