18,000 ft of water main to be installed on Marksheffel

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Starting on Monday, Nov. 25, Colorado Springs Utilities (Springs Utilities) will install more than 18,000 feet of water main along Marksheffel Road east of Peterson Space Force Base.
The City of Colorado Springs said this water construction project will improve water service reliability and water system redundancy. Traffic impacts between the east gate of Peterson and Drennan Road begin on Monday, Nov. 25 and construction is starting on Monday, Dec. 2.
The 30-inch and 24-inch water mains will be installed over a period of about two years with the first phase lasting from December 2024 to early January 2025. The project is anticipated to be completed in early 2026.

Traffic impacts
Nov. 25 – Jan. 6: Traffic lanes along Marksheffel will shift and speeds will be reduced to 40 mph. In addition, periodic lane closures may occur throughout the project.
Traffic control will be in place for about 2,000 feet, beginning at the east entrance to Peterson Space Force Base, and heading southbound on Marksheffel
