KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — Investigators have arrested a woman in connection to the death of a 4-year-old child. On Tuesday, shortly before 12 a.m., the Kannapolis Police Department says officers were called to a home on Old Rivers Road regarding a child that had passed away. Police say the child was staying with her aunt, 31-year-old Vanity Rubystine Williams, since October, and that the child was in the care of Williams at the time of her death. Police charged Williams on Thursday with one count of Felony Child Abuse. On Friday, after receiving the preliminary autopsy results from the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office and after consulting with the Cabarrus County District Attorney’s Office, Williams was charged with First Degree Murder in the death of her niece.
