MINOT, ND (KXNET) — We certainly notice the colder weather, and workers at one zoo in North Dakota have to make sure their animals are well cared for at this time of year. Logan Wood is the new director at the Roosevelt Park Zoo and he says the safety of the animals, staff, and guests are their top priorities. Wood says the warmer weather animals will be inside so they have a temperature-controlled environment but you can still see some of the animals, outside as well. Roosevelt Park Zoo’s new director wants to enhance visitors experience "When it comes to keeping these animals warm it all depends. We have backup plans just in case generators go out, heating goes out. If we need to keep staff here in case of severe winter storms, we have the ability to keep staff here overnight so we can provide the care," said Wood. Wood says during winter, zoo workers can offer enrichment activities including snow for the primates to experience. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox.
