JUNCTION CITY (KSNT) - Kansas transportation officials are reopening part of I-70 near Junction City Friday to traffic on the highway. Ashley Perez with the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) announced in a press release on Nov. 22 that workers will be reopening I-70 through Junction City to unrestricted winter traffic by the end of the day. This will follow the completion of Phase Two construction on the large-scale pavement replacement project and a three-day lane reduction for bridge work in Grandview Plaza. KDOT's final phase of this project is set to start in mid-March of 2025. Drivers will only be able to use a single lane in each direction during this phase in the westbound lanes while pavement work is completed in the eastbound lanes. BNSF celebrates new Kansas track on ‘super highway’ expected to reduce delivery times Perez said the entire $30 million project includes construction of temporary crossovers, pavement and drainage structure replacement, bridge rehabilitation work along with resurfacing of some nearby local routes.
