Precipitation coming next week

Clear skies and warmer weather are going to be seen across New Mexico today. This warming trend will continue through the weekend.
A ridge of high pressure is still over New Mexico today. This high pressure is assisting in sinking and warming the air across the state. Low's in the morning are still a little bit chilly. However, the days are warming right up to near/ slightly above average temperatures.
Starting tomorrow the ridge of high pressure will begin to flatten. This is due to a trough of low pressure forming off the Pacific Northwest. This low pressure will more eastward over the weekend. By Sunday, zonal or westerly flow will be prominent over New Mexico. This increase in winds will assist in warming temperatures 10-20 degrees above average on Sunday.
On Monday, a backdoor cold front will move through Eastern New Mexico. This will being strong winds and much cooler air to eastern New Mexico. Wind gusts of 20-30 mph and a 10-20 degree temperature drop from Sunday is expected across Eastern New Mexico.
The westerly winds across New Mexico will be lasting through the middle of next week. The accompanying jet streak will drawn up moisture across New Mexico starting Sunday. There is a little bit of uncertainty surrounding how much moisture will be drawn up. Some models are much more conservative with the moisture than other. What is more certain is the chances for precipitation.
Mountain snow will begin for northern New Mexico on Sunday. This snowfall will last through Wednesday. The northern peaks of the San Juan Mountains could see 24" on snow. Rain chances will be less exciting. Spotty to isolated showers are expected for parts of northern and central New Mexico. Northern New Mexico can expect rain Monday-Wednesday. The best chance for rain in central New Mexico will be on Wednesday.
The state will once again dry out on Thursday. Thanksgiving Day will also see a temperature drop across the state.
