New Mexico student doctor indicted in federal court on child pornography charges

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A student doctor in Albuquerque appeared in federal court on Friday and was charged by indictment with production and possession of child pornography.
Kevin Weiss, 28, will remain in custody pending trial, which has not been scheduled. According to the indictment, between approximately June 2020 to Feb. 2024, Weiss allegedly used a minor under 18 years of age to produce child pornography of the minor. He is also accused of knowingly possessing child pornography involving prepubescent minors from Dec. 2023 to March 2024.

If convicted, Weiss faces a minimum of 15 years and up to 30 years in prison, followed by a minimum of five years and up to a lifetime term of supervised release.
Homeland Security Investigations investigated this case with assistance from the Albuquerque Police Department and New Mexico State Police. Weiss was arrested in June by the Albuquerque Police Department’s Child Exploitation Unit.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.
