A 3.8-magnitude earthquake struck about four miles north of Malibu, with rumbling sent through the San Fernando Valley, parts of the South Bay and elsewhere on Friday afternoon, Nov. 22. The quake hit around 2:15 p.m., at a depth of about six miles, according to preliminary data from the U.S. Geological Survey. It initially was posted at a 3.5 magnitude, but was upgraded by seismologists. The temblor reportedly was felt along the coast in Orange and Los Angeles counties, and extended into Simi Valley, USGS maps show. The shaking was mostly described as weak and light. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
