JOHNSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — A family-owned car dealership in Johnston has raised nearly $1,000 for a local organization that supports children and families in their fight against cancer. Twice a year, Hurd Auto Mall, part of the Balise Auto Group, runs its "Hurd for Hope" campaign. During this two-month initiative, the dealership donates a portion of the proceeds from every set of four tires purchased to a local organization benefiting youth in Rhode Island. "At Balise, we believe that the road to a brighter future begins right in our own community," said Balise Auto Group's Chief Operating Officer Ben Sullivan. "Together with our customers and local organizations like the Glimmer of Hope Foundation, we’re proud to continue driving positive change, one mile at a time." This fall, Hurd Auto Mall donated $860 to the Glimmer of Hope Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to showing "girls and boys their strength and beauty through the donation of bald dolls" and providing hope to families battling childhood cancer. "We’re incredibly grateful to Hurd for their partnership and to everyone who contributed to this cause. This support truly fuels hope and helps us keep providing resources and moments of happiness to these brave young fighters," Glimmer of Hope founder Ali Hornung said.
