Covington man convicted in child pornography case

COVINGTON, La. (WGNO) — A Covington man has been found guilty by a St. Tammany Parish jury in a child pornography case.
The Office of District Attorney Collin Sims reported that 53-year-old Scott Gaskill was found guilty of possessing seven images of child pornography involving victims under the age of 13 on Wednesday, Nov. 20.

Court documents state that in 2019 the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation received a tip about six child sexual abuse images being uploaded from a Tumblr account linked to a computer with an IP address in Covington.

According to court documents, agents searched Gaskill's Covington home in 2019, where he denied viewing child pornography.
The district attorney's office reported that an additional image was found on another device taken during the search.
On Wednesday, a jury found Gaskill guilty after an hour of deliberation. His sentencing is set for Jan. 8, 2025.
