MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- An inmate died while at the Shelby County jail Friday morning, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. The inmate has been identified as 60-year-old Lawrence Sumlin. Lawrence Sumlin (SCSO) TBI agents say they began their investigation after Sumlin was found unresponsive in jail. MS jailer tased by inmate, sheriff’s office says His cause of death is unclear at this time. However, an autopsy has been scheduled. This is still an ongoing investigation.
