PARKER CITY, Ind. — A Parker City man was charged after reportedly firing off guns in two separate incidents. John D. Ferguson was charged with the following: Criminal Recklessness, a Level 6 Felony Attempted Cruelty to an Animal, a Class A Misdemeanor According to court documents, officers from the Farmland Police Department were called to 302 South Plum St. on Aug. 12 on a report that a stray bullet was found in the home in Farmland. The next day, a witness reported that they saw a bullet hole in a nearby home. Police executed a search of the home on Aug. 16 with the authority of the owner. The officer was able to corroborate that there was a bullet hole shot from the inside. An occupant of the home told police that it happened, but the suspect failed to report it, according to court documents. Ferguson, the suspect, provided police with a statement. He alluded to the idea that he was very "upset" that his Smith & Wesson was fired and that it could have hurt someone. Richmond couple charged with 20 counts of animal cruelty (Getty Images) A couple of months later, on Oct. 29, Ferguson was at the center of another crime in Randolph County. The Parker City Police Department was dispatched at 1:29 a.m. on a report that a neighbor was shooting at a dog. Upon arrival, officers spoke to a man who said someone was shooting at his German Shepherd with a pellet gun. Then along came Ferguson, reportedly wearing goggles, baseball shin guards, and a blanket over his shoulders saying, "That dog barking again." When the pair began to argue back and forth, Ferguson allegedly said that he did shoot the gun toward the dog to stop the dog from barking. This is an active investigation.
