Officers originally responded just before 5 p.m. on Nov. 3 to a report of a crash involving a car and a motorcycle. When officers arrived, they found the motorcyclist, Zimmerman, dead on scene.
CSPD said the investigation revealed the motorcyclist and driver were both in the southbound lanes of Monterey Road when the motorcycle hit the side of the car, which was making a U-turn to go north.
CSPD said the speed of the motorcycle is considered a factor in the crash.
This is the 47th fatal crash in Colorado Springs in 2024. At the same time in 2023, there had been 45 fatalities.
