BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Kern County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly shooting that took place back in September on McClean Avenue. The coroner identified 26-year-old Kevin Cortez as the victim of a fatal shooting in the 700 block of McClean Avenue on Sept. 22. Deputies responded to the scene at 4:09 a.m. and discovered Cortez with gunshot wounds. He was transported to Kern Medical where he was later pronounced deceased.
