Springfield honors JFK with eternal flame in Forest Park

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Friday marks the 61st anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
On November 22nd, 1963, President Kennedy was assassinated while visiting Dallas Texas. An eternal flame, burning brightly in Forest Park, represents the life and legacy of the late President John F Kennedy.
This eternal flame in Forest Park is dedicated to the memory of John F. Kennedy, and is only one of two made in his honor, the other is in Arlington National Cemetery.
A ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. with Mayor Domenic Sarno, Congressman Richard Neal, Sheriff Nick Cocchi, the Springfield Board of Park Commissioners, Executive Director of Parks, Buildings, and Recreation Management Thomas Ashe, James E. Sullivan, and members of the JFK Remembrance Committee.
