NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Cold and dry air is once again the big weather story this morning in the Land of Enchantment, as well as the Four Corners, accompanied with mostly clear skies, as well as mostly calm winds, as morning low temperatures, despite being slightly higher than yesterday morning for most, especially in eastern areas, are ranging from the high single digits for a few of the northwestern communities to the 40s in southern areas. With even sunnier skies throughout the day, temperatures will rise more than yesterday, above normal for this time of the year. Winds are set to be mostly light throughout the day, but westerly winds in the East Plains, as well as the high mountains peaks, may still be just strong enough for some patchy blowing dust and patchy blowing snow with the still possible fire risk because of the very low humidity regionwide. From the morning school commute on into the afternoon, temperatures will mostly eventually reach into the upper 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s. Temperatures will continue to rebound throughout the weekend with drier air as winds will mostly be calm in the short term before picking up a bit by the later parts of the weekend as the jet stream to the north moves southward but remains mostly north of the region, ushering in some passing clouds with chilly rain showers in the northern-valley floors, as well as some mountain snow through the first few days of next week.
