A historic brownstone gets a modern makeover in Pittsburgh’s Allegheny West
Nov 22, 2024
Today on Feeling Nebby with @housesofpittsburgh, we explore Chad and Anthony’s stunning brownstone in Allegheny West. Believed to be one of only 50 brownstones in all of Pittsburgh, this 1890s architectural gem perfectly marries historic charm with the couple’s modern style. After a year of renovations, Chad and Anthony moved in just a month ago, and the results are spectacular.Every detail of the three-story home reflects their respect for its soul and history. From original woodwork and intricate details to their modern furnishings, the blend is seamless. The third floor is especially unique, featuring a lounge area complete with a bar space and a view of the city skyline — a perfect spot for entertaining or unwinding. The decision to leave their previous home, a Deutschtown house designed by Leanne Ford for her HGTV show “Restored by the Fords,” wasn’t easy. However, Chad and Anthony wanted more space to host their extended families, and this brownstone provided the perfect combination of room to grow and historical significance. If the house sounds familiar, you may have seen it in the early stages of renovation during last year’s Old Allegheny Victorian Christmas tour. This year, the fully transformed home will again be part of the tour, happening Dec. 6-7, offering an up-close look at the work done to preserve and modernize this historic space.Chad and Anthony worked with Ally Mahon/Vintage Luxury on their home. NEXTpittsburgh is highlighting this brownstone as part of a series with @housesofpittsburgh, run by sisters Annie Perri Cole and Hope Perri. Together, we’re celebrating the hidden gems of Pittsburgh, one house at a time.
