NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Thursday, Nov. 21, was the annual Covenant House Sleep Out.
"Unconditional love, absolute respect and relentless support for our youth who are overcoming homelessness. We serve youth ages 16 to 22 who are housing insecure. We not only provide them with safe shelter, a sanctuary for them, and then we do wraparound support for those young people once they've stabilized," said Covenant House CEO Rheneisha Robertson on the work and mission of Covenant House New Orleans.

Thursday night was the annual Covenant House Sleep Out, where members of the community give up their creature comforts for a night to raise money for the effort, but also develop a bond between the community and Covenant House residents.
"The youth are inspired by the sleepers, on lived experience often times, which motivates them. It gives them hope. It's a magical event between our donors and the youth," said Sheri Combs with Covenant House.

Covenant House gives young people hope and belief that they can dream beyond their current condition, and that's a cause we can all get behind.
"For me it's a steppingstone in that nothing's over yet. It's a temporary spot. It offers you so much to remind you that as long as you just keep putting in the work, you've done it before, you can always do it again," said Covenant House resident Sincer Crawford.
