WINCHESTER, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — For the first time ever, Crosley Records decided to come back home to it’s birthplace of Kentucky to gift one special school with $2,500.
“So we challenged 25 school across the state of Kentucky to paint, to draw, to do just any style of art or medium onto a record player itself around the theme of sounds of Kentucky,” Kaitlyn Clay with Crosley said.
The students of George Clark High School designed the winning piece of art. They won a tour of the Crosley Cruiser Truck decked out with vinyls from famous musicians, a jukebox and record players.
“Them participating and having first hand and competing in the contest and winning that money was really important to them,” art teacher Brittani Fuller said.
All the money they won go toward the art program.
“I think we’re going to take field trips and probably get more art supplies for the visual arts cohort,” student Kaelyn Walters said.
Crosley says they want to continue giving back to their community and hope to make this a yearly event.
